Doug Shivers
, Senior Pastor, has been pastor of Boulevard since 1994. He has been a pastor for over 40 yearsPastor Doug Shivers
and has served 5 churches. He grew up in Richland, Missouri and went to college at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Missouri. Doug is committed to pastoral ministry. He loves to study and preach and spend time with his congregation.

He has done a bit of writing contributing book reviews and articles to Reformation and Revival Journal and The Founders Journal.

He is married to Laura and has four children, and seven beautiful grandchildren. His favorite authors include:
C.H. Spurgeon, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, R.C. Sproul, Thomas Brooks, C.S. Lewis, Eugene Peterson, Tom Clancy, Patrick McManus, and John Donne. He plays golf, enjoys target shooting, and still occasionally practices Aikido
(a Japanese martial art).


Mathew Whitaker, Pastor of Discipleship, Missions, and Administration, has been on staff with Boulevard
Baptist since 2009. Prior to his arrival at Boulevard, Mat served as an Associate Pastor in churches in Indiana
and Kentucky. Mat has a passion for proclaiming the Word of God, whether it’s in the pulpit, in the classroom, or over a cup of coffee that others may understand "God’s mystery which is Christ".

Mat is married to Clarissa and they have three children.  In his free time, he enjoys reading, watching movies with his wife, wrestling with his kids, and just about anything outdoors.


Nathan Murfin has been on staff at Boulevard since 2018, first as Interim Music Director and later as Pastor of
Worship and Students in 2019. He has grown up and currently lives in Ozark, Missouri. He has served in several
church and para-church music ministry settings while studying for his Bachelor’s in Church Music (Voice) at
Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar, Missouri). His greatest passion and joy in the ministry is to preach the Word
through song and enjoy seeing Christians of all ages crying out to God in truthful, biblical worship.

Nathan is married to Lauren and they have a boy named Daniel on the way! Nathan’s favorite hobbies are golfing,
fishing, and floating. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching his favorite sports
teams (St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, Oakland Raiders), playing guitar, piano, and trumpet, learning and
discussing theology, and listening to new worship music from artists like Shane & Shane, Keith and Kristyn Getty,
Matt Boswell and Matt Papa, CityAlight, and many others.
